Circles and circles and circles again

December 25, 2008

Here are some shots of my unfinished 20×30″ watercolor bokeh piece that I started about 3 weeks ago. After working on these blinding little circles for 3 days I decided to take a break from the piece for a while. I’m not sure if I just want to fill the entire sheet with these circles or if I want to transform them into something completely different like tick marks or drips. But I figured I’d share because SHARING IS CARING.

Some close-ups:

And because it’s Christmas Eve…

Alright! Time to go get drunk on Hot Buttered Rum! Stay warm!

Sometimes doing cruddy drawings is really fun!

Whew. Those Sylvia Plath pieces really knocked the wind out of me. Super draining. So here’s a goofy page from my sketchbook-

In other news, I’m snowed in. 13 inches! In Portland, Oregon! Madness! And we’re supposed to get another 3-5 inches tonight!

This morning my dog, Maggie, went barreling out the front door, leapt off the porch, and instantly vanished into the snow-covered lawn – all except her crooked red tail poking out and moving around like a periscope in the sea. It was very cute.

Here’s a picture I took of her trying to climb a tree. This was taken a few days ago, before the snow really started to pile up-

Anyway, there’s a little update for you. Happy Holidays!

Set yourself on FIRE!

December 19, 2008

Hey check out all this great stuff I made!

I was having a bad drawing day so I did a bunch of really lousy drawings and then after lots of cutting things up and gluing things together I ended up with this gem!

And, aw, look! It’s the Maggiemoo all curled up and fast ashleep:

C’MERE! GIMME A KISS:

An indignant bear:

A watery pig:

And on a more serious (and sort of depressing) note- here are four works I did for a project about Sylvia Plath (with whom I share a birthday!):

“Whiteness I Remember”

“Mad Girl’s Love Song”

“Lady Lazarus”

“Tulips”

[excerpt]

The tulips should be behind bars like dangerous animals;
They are opening like the mouth of some great African cat,
And I am aware of my heart: it opens and closes
Its bowl of red blooms out of sheer love of me.
The water I taste is warm and salt, like the sea,
And comes from a country far away as health.

Ravina Sniper

December 10, 2008

I just did a portrait exchange with my good friend (and soon-to-be roommate!!) Ravina.

Here’s what I did:

Watercolor. See it a bit larger here.

And here’s what she did:

Pen & ink.

Aw yeuh.

Here’s a silly one…
