My Funny Valentine

I hope you all had a good Valentine’s Day! I sure did.

My roommate and I threw an Anti-Valentine’s Party. Actually it was a “Sad Bastard” party complete with a Sad Bastard banner,

and a sad bastard cake.

(Yes I know this is an art blog- I consider both of the above items to be art!)

Anyway, I did some drawrin’ during the party. Just silly little sketchbook things that I thought would be fun to post.

(I’m sorry, I’m just so excited! PJ Harvey is my favorite and she rarely ever tours the States anymore and I just can’t believe I get to see her live again!)

Maggie’s New Station

Maggie is typically stationed on the couch, but I bought a zebra papasan cushion from CostPlus and it’s become Maggie’s new favorite spot in the house. See?

Let me tell you something: You don’t know pain until you’ve spent 9+ hours hunched over a full-sheet of Rives BFK with a size 5 round da Vinci brush making little circles with watercolor and ink and the occasional sprinkle of salt. I mean it. My back and neck and shoulders and arms hurt so much. It feels like there are a million tiny construction workers inside of me, jack-hammering all my muscles.

“Then why do you do it?” you ask?

Because I think it’s really fun (yes, fun) and I think it looks really awesome:

I still like milky/gel pens. Markers, though? Not so much. Mostly because the fumes give me a headache, and also the bleed-through jacks up my sketchbook.

We Used To Be Friends

Man. I’ve had the song “We Used To Be Friends” by The Dandy Warhols stuck in my head for a few days now and it’s driving me CRAZY! Not coincidentally, it’s also the Veronica Mars theme song. RIP Veronica Mars. I miss you.
